It’s not always wine braises, hi-def pictures, and glittering sprinkles. More often than I’d care to admit it’s splattering oil, burnt edges, powdered sugar in my hair, along with sliced fingers, burns, and cutting fruit with the same knife used to chop the chili peppers (to save face I called them fire apples).
The Mystery Breakfast
I sent this picture out to the FAMILY hoping they would recognize my latent culinary talent. Everyone thought it was cottage cheese over sauteed veggies on toast. It was poached eggs. Perfectly cooked, mind you. It may not look like the poached eggs from the restaurants, but it tasted infinitely better since I had done it myself.
Holiday Pin-Wheel Cookies
As you can see these became psychedelic swirls that may have been more appropriate for a Dr. Seuss themed party. These are the 10 best out of 30. The dough never set properly after being in the fridge over night so that when I rolled the green dough over the white, only half of it was salvageable. What you don’t see is that the other side of these cookies have a golden tan from cooling on the hot pan instead of the cooling rack.
