When I started this blog I knew that I would have to divulge the secrets of my two favorite recipes. I haven’t been doing this a year and already I’m giving up one of my amazing dishes. I even thought of ways to write this leaving a couple ingredients out so that no one could make it taste like mine. (Evil, I know!) To uphold the integrity of this blog I decided against it and hope I still get complimented on my eggplant even though it’s out there now for anyone to make . . . if they were so inclined. Bhindi Masala (Okra Curry)
I make a good Bhindi – only to be rivaled by my mean Baingan (coming soon!). I don’t really have any strong feelings towards okra, but there is a fervent vocal minority in my family that absolutely loves this vegetable. So I make it for them when they ask politely.
I think this would be great if made in a karahi/wok because it cooks quickly. The majority of your time will be spent cutting up the okra. If you have the chance try it and let me know how it turns out in the comments. Read the rest of this entry
Brussels Sprouts
This is where I was last week. Yup, that’s Niagara Falls and I’m standing on the Canadian side looking at the US. I even went on that boat, Maid of the Mist. Covered in a paper thin blue plastic poncho, we sailed straight for the falls – or as close as we could safely get. It was super humid and windy, with ice-cold water battering our faces.
