Smoked Moose

A few weeks ago Dad went to North-Of-Nowhere, Canada for a moose hunt and met with success. I asked him to try and save a few pounds to bring home. After the warm and fuzzies of his return wore off, I was faced with 80 lbs. of one moose shoulder. Fortunately the shoulder came in various sized pieces. I kept my eye on this piece and made sure to claim it before anyone else in the FAMILY asked for it.

7 Pepper Chili

We have a new neighbor. A Broad-winged hawk. I glanced out the window one morning and saw this huge bird land in the yard. Our backyard is filled with chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, and other critters. I guess it was a matter of time before a bird of prey decided to move in.

The next day our neighbor was back. I decided to name him Horus. A few days later he was sitting in a tree and I heard a bunch of little birdies chirping, but couldn’t see them. Hopefully, I’ll see more of him and his family. Read the rest of this entry

Chipotle Grilled Chicken Tacos

Hummingbirds! Our overflowing flower pots have attracted hummingbirds. After four days of the intense heat wave, I went outside in the evening to enjoy the cool breeze. I tried to do some reading until I heard a soft buzzing, and this creature landed on my arm. I first thought it was a dragonfly, but then I noticed the long beak. There were four of them feeding on the flowers, but they wouldn’t hold still long enough for a group picture. Ah, well.

So I noticed that I haven’t posted any chicken recipes. When I first started grilling, I made mostly chicken and burgers. It quickly became bland and I stopped doing chicken and focused instead on veggies and red meat. Read the rest of this entry
